Interview Couture Minute: Lady Gaga Wears Stéphane Rolland to E! News Special "Lady Gaga: Marry the Night"

Marry The COUTURE

Lady in Creme Couture: Lady Gaga during her interview, E! News Special : Lady Gaga: Marry The Night"

Two nights ago, on December 1st, E! Entertainment debuted an "E! News Special" entitled "Lady Gaga: Marry The Night", a half-hour special showing the behind-the-scenes making of the latest music video for her fifth smash single from her album "Born This Way". The special showed a one-on-one interview with E!'s Jason Kennedy and of course, Miss Lady Gaga. I was intrigued (as always) by what she was wearing especially because I thought I had seen it before. Well, of course, it was from Parisian fashion designer Stephane Rolland and his Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011 Collection , which I just LOVED!

"Look No. 7" Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011: an ivory creme-white "suit" (day or evening Stéphane? Most likely both!) featuring a stand-up collar framing the neck and torso, exaggerated "Cape" sleeves, plunging neckline, thin black belt and original bamboo-like embellishment across the skirt section. During the interview, she even talks about the xylophone detail of her ensemble and what she can do with it (it's naughty of course!). If you were to actually order this "Look No. 7" from this Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture collection, it would probably set you back a high FIVE figures--around $30,000-$40,000. Yes, kids , that's what Haute Couture goes for, in case you didn't know. She gets it for free. Whether or not she borrowed it or actually gets to keep it, is anyone's guess.

Jason Kennedy of E! News with Lady Gaga, "E! News Special : Lady Gaga: Marry the Night"

Miss Gaga has worn Rolland before, in fact most recently HERE at the 39th Annual International Emmy Awards presentation in NYC. Again, her look was from the same Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011 Collection (it does have "Lady Gaga" written all over it!).

The "Crowning Jewel" of the half-hour special was the World Premiere of her directorial debut to "Marry The Night": an almost-14 minute video that has many "Early Madonna-meets-Flashdance-meets Steven Meisel Vogue Italia shoot" moments as well as, oversized ballet toe-shoes, a bathtub and Cherrios, and much more.

Day After Thanksgiving Fashion Minute: Lady Gaga Wears Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture--Straight from the Runway

Gaga-licious Leg Show:

Lady Gaga, in Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture and Emmy Award Winner Nigel Lythgoe (of "American Idol"), 39th International Emmy Awards, NYC Hilton

Happy Day After Thanksgiving! Last night, Miss Lady Gaga had her "Very Gaga Thanksgiving Special"--a 90-minute Lady Gaga infomercial--I mean Holiday TV Special-- shown on ABC. It was awkward at times, schmaltzy at others and yes, the GIRL is talented!!!

Now, speaking of NOT disappointing on the Fashion Front, check out Lady Gaga's ensemble which she wore earlier in the week on Monday for the 39th International Emmy Awards (PS: I had no idea there was such a thing as an "International Emmy Award", but now I do--because of her!). It was held at the Mercury Ballroom at the NYC Hilton (say what??). Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance to present the honorary International Emmy Founders Award to Britain’s Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” She also surprised everyone in attendance with showing lots of side leg, half-a-bootie and enough white-meat muscle to make a plump turkey jealous!

Her gown was from Parisian designer Stéphane Rolland (one of my favorite designers) and from his Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011/2012 Collection and from the looks of the 10 inches too-long spilling onto the floor, it was probably the actual runway sample. The gown was black, featuring a very structured shoulder, one sleeve and a cowl-draped side opening that showed lots of what was going on inside (of Lady Gaga's legs). Reps for the designer say that it "wasn't to be worn that way" citing that it was meant for a much taller model and therefore (somehow) on this taller model, it wouldn't expose so much. Well, kids, here's that much taller model in the gown:

Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2011/2012

On the runway model, the cowl-draped opening seems to be more on the side front as opposed to the actual side (therefore, yes, it was probably meant to not really be revealing and side-back inner bootie but rather, more of the thigh/knee area). Maybe as Lady Gaga moved or the way it "fell on her", the gown inadvertently shifted. See for yourself as she posed after the ceremony:

In the end, the designer and his people were said to be very happy with their gown and how Miss Lady Gaga wore it--showing plenty of leg plus a whole lot more...yes, I would be too!

Runway Report: Versace Spring/Summer 2012

Grommets, Studs, Seashell Motifs...It's Versace 1992 all over again...And I LOVE IT!

Versace Spring 2012

Last week, Donatella Versace showed her latest Spring 2012 Collection for the House of Versace in the gorgeous garden at the Via Gesù show space. The collection was very "Retro Versace". Like I had seen it before somewhere...

It's All About 1992: Versace Couture 1992 above on Naomi, Stephanie and Yasmeen--and on Lady Gaga

I had. The Versace Spring 2012 Collection had many motifs and style elements from that much-Lady Gaga loved Versace Couture 1992 time period (she's been spotted wearing A LOT from those collections lately). The grommets, the silver and gold studs, the heavily cluttered sequins, the seashell prints and motifs...

Seashell Retro: Versace Spring/Summer 1992

Donatella went back to the Versace Archives (as well she should, maybe inspired by Miss Gaga) and really referenced those years in particular for this collection. And what a surprise, they looked "fresh and new", especially to those "kids" who were probably 3 when those collections came out! But I remember darlings--I could never forget Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Karen Mulder and Yasmeen Ghauri in those seashell printed swimsuits and those leather and gold studded gowns!!!

Versace Spring 2012

But back to the present: Versace Spring 2012 showed lots of light "candy sorbet" colors--the light blues, the lemon yellows, the aqua-greens. Lots of luscious draped and shirred silk jersey and silk chiffon added to the "prettiness".

Versace Spring 2012

And yes, those 1992'esque black gold studded skirts and tops and Seashell-motif sequined applique. Donatella also played with some asymmetry, especially with chiffon "overlay" that would "half" cover a simple and elegant sheath dress or a skirt.

Versace Spring 2012

Gowns were seductive, sexy and oh-so-Versace Red Carpet. Also in those light candy-sorbet colors. The grommeting and studded sequin detail was followed through to the final runway-stomping gowns. Now speaking of Runway Stomping...There was a "Model Down":

Poor Lindsey Wixson (American, famous for her "bee-stung" lips) came crashing down almost at the end of the Versace Spring 2012 show. Lindsey happens to be one of Donatella's faves--if not her "Muse", but the 17 year old (A Muse at 17??) came tumbling down as she tried to maneuver those towering 8" lucite stilletto wedge platforms.

She did get back up and instead of running as fast as she could out of the runway, she continued her walk with "Victory" thumbs-up hand signs. Nice Recovery Girl!!!!

Lady Gaga Shoots "You & I" Music Video

Lady Gaga dropped by US radio station Channel 94 and spoke about her upcoming new music video for her next single, You & I, which she just wrapped up filming.

"The premise of the video is that I've walked all the way from New York City to Nebraska to get [my boyfriend] back. It's the idea that when you're away from somebody you love it's torture. It's a very powerful and awful and strange feeling when you're away from the person you love."

Gaga also took the time to comment on the recent passing of fellow artist, Amy Winehouse.

Fashion Fix: Lady Gaga wears "Vintage" Atelier Versace

Lady Gaga goes "gaga" over Versace!!

Lady Gaga wearing Custom Atelier Versace performing at the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards

Lady Gaga is having a serious Versace Moment. In fact, she declared in a recent interview that she will only be wearing Versace for the next 2 months (Do I smell an Advertising Contract in her future?!).

But...not only is she wearing Versace, but she is mainly wearing Vintage Gianni Versace (after his death in 1997 the House began to use only the name Versace). And for me, that is absolutely GENIUS!

I have always been a huge fan of Versace and when I was studying Fashion at FIDM, Gianni Versace was my idol. Ironically, Lady Gaga has been wearing outfits mainly from the Fall/Winter and Spring 1991 Atelier Versace Collections and this is just a few seasons before I started creating my "Versace Archives" of magazines and books, so sadly I didn't have as many direct references as I thought.

But, below are some of the outfits she has been wearing and a look back at a few of the original pieces.

Lady Gaga wore this Pop Art inspired ensemble to receive her MuchMusic Award. It is from the Gianni Versace Fall/Winter 1991 Collection, and although that is not the actual top seen on the right on the fab Linda Evangelista, it is similar.

For her appearance on the French TV Show Taratatà, Lady Gaga wore a Silk Printed blouse from the Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 1992 Collection. I love that in my Vintage Catalog, I came across an image of former Supermodel and now First Lady of France Carla Bruni-Sarkozy wearing a very similar version!

Above Gaga collects yet another MuchMusic Award wearing this Vintage Gianni Versace Gown. The Silk Crepe Gown with Buckle Detailing is a beautiful dress and classic Gianni, but it just doesn't work on Gaga. It reminds me of the iconic Elizabeth Hurley dress and that moment is really hard to live up to!

In Lady Gaga's new and VERY 80's inspired music video for her song "Edge of Glory" she is, once again, wearing Versace. I am not sure if it is vintage or Custom Atelier Versace (similar to the performance outfit above at the MuchMusic Video Awards), but either way she looks AMAZING!

It is definitely similar to this look....

from the Spring/Summer 1992 Atelier Versace Collection. The photo above is of my absolute FAVORITE Supermodel, Yasmeen Ghauri. And by the way...what ever happened to her? Hello, Yasmeen! If your listening, we need you back! Now that Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington have made a return, it is your time!!

And finally...

Here is Lady Gaga making her arrival at the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards. I Absolutely LOVE this photo and this outfit. It is the perfect blend of Gaga and Vintage Versace!

Bravo to Lady Gaga and the House of Versace...keep it up!

We want MORE and how about an "Animal Print Moment". May I suggest looking at the Spring/Summer 1992 Collection below!

10th Annual CFDA 2011 Awards Red Carpet--Lady Gaga and...Everyone else!!!

Born Fashionably...

Lady Gaga: Wearing Mugler to the 2011 CFDA Awards

The 10th Annual CFDA/Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards for 2011 were handed out tonight at the Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center New York City. And the Red Carpet Star of the Night was none other than Miss Lady Gaga. Miss Gaga was being honored as "Fashion Icon" and she was on hand to accept her award. She wore a teal pageboy wig and Mugler high-low gown.

And to no one's surprise: Some SERIOUS platform boots (above). I have to say, she looked kinda SEXY!!! I've never thought of Lady Gaga as sexy but huney! She done BROUGHT IT, with this ensemble! Live for this moment darling. Live for it.

Jessica Alba: 30 year old--and very pregnant, actress Jessica Alba wore a two-toned custom empire-waisted and drop-shouldered Diane Von Furstenberg gown in peach and purple silk Habotai. I will not say anything nasty about a pregnant woman so I will say, Jessica Alba looked "Pretty". Love the color combination.

Chloe Sevigny: Rumor has it that what she wore is a "Sneak Peak" of her new line for Opening Ceremony. It was a black ruffled leather plunging neck top and eyelet pencil skirt with a peplum. Loved it. Modern, chic, you-go-Chloe! Love the black-and-white shoes.

Kirsten Dunst: Kirsten wore a black with turquoise blue shawl collared tuxedo suit with matching UBER skinny pants from NYC-based CFDA 2008, 2009, 2010 Swarovski Award for Menswear Nominee Designer Patrik Ervell. She accessorized with Prada shoes and slicked back up-do mini-bun hairstyle. I like seeing this more "androgynous" side of Kirsten. It's very Euro. Her tiny frame can really handle this super skinny and super fitted look.

Lucy Liu: Liu wore a black strapless gown by LA-based/shows-in-NY-only designer Monique Lhuillier. It was, dare I say it, A BIT much! This was more of an Oscars gown as opposed to CFDA Awards. Leave the big gown moments to Miss Lady Gaga--or Cannes. I have to say that unfortunately, this was a bit of a MISS for me...I think Lucy thought she was at Cannes but somehow forgot...

Marcia Cross: Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross went the complete opposite of her Bree Hodge character for the 2011 CFDA Awards. She went DISCO Happy, wearing a halter neckline jumpsuit (they are ALL THE RAGE kids!) from designer Pamela Rolland. I think she looked rather HOT! If you're going to wear a sequined 1979-inspired jumpsuit, it should be for the CFDA's. Seriously.

Here's a Rundown of This Year's CFDA Awards' Winners:

Womenswear Designer of the Year: Proenza Schouler

Menswear Designer of the Year: Michael Bastian

Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang

Swarovski Award for Menswear: Robert Geller

Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Prabal Gurung

Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Eddie Borgo

International Award: Phoebe Philo

Media Award: Hilary Alexander

Founders Award: Hal Rubenstein

Fashion Icon Award: Lady Gaga

Geoffery Beene Lifetime Achievement Award: Marc Jacobs

Album Review: Born This Way - Lady Gaga

Born This Way was defined by Lady Gaga as "the album of the decade" way before its release. Revolutionary, groundbreaking, or phenomenal were some of the adjectives used to refer to the new music of an artist who´s been know to have her share of controversy.

So, is Gaga´s new album as epic as they made us believe? It´s not. Will it make an impact on the music industry as we know it? It won´t. Is it an album worth of our attention? Yes it is.

Hype is a very bad word. If this album was released today without all of the high expectations surrounding it, we would have probably payed more attention to the music because... lets not forget it. It´s not about the bizarre dresses or controversial videos... it´s really about the music.

Here is our track by track overview of the album:

Marry The Night: This song contains rock and pop elements from the 80´s with a powerful chorus. However it´s the dance section in the end what really makes it stand out. 7/10

Born This Way: The first single off the album was labeled by many as a Madonna´s Express Yourself ripoff. It is enjoyable but no as groundbreaking as it was conceived to be. 6/10

Government Hooker: This post-disco inspired track reveals one of the biggest retro moments of the record. The song is so good it just speaks for itself. 8.5/10

Judas: The second single feels sometimes messy with Gaga´s voice lost among synthesizers and digital effects. The melody is somehow reminiscent of Gaga´s old hit, Bad Romance. 6.5/10

Americano: Spanish is Stefani Germanotta´s failed subject. The song is almost a self-parody of what it is supposed to be. 3/10

Hair: An infectious chorus that unfortunately gets lost along the way of an overproduced track. All in all the drums and the saxophone riffs provide some authenticity to the song.  6.5/10

Scheiße: The real dance anthem of the album and our personal favourite. This commanding pop song is definitely single material. 9/10

Bloody Mary: The religious theme appears once again but this time the mood is quite different. Overall a decent track. 6/10

Bad Kids: A homage to teenage rebellion and adolescence. The rock intro paves the way for a more disco pop oriented sound and chorus. 7/10

Highway Unicorn (Road To Love): The melody in the beginning shares similarities with the chorus of her hit Poker Face. Not exactly our cup of tea. 4/10

Heavy Metal Lover: The song shares the exact same rhythm pattern of Born This Way only slower. Unoriginal, predictible and boring. 3/10

Electric Chapel: It incorporates 80´s elements with some rock flavour. Nice but not enchanting. 3/10

You and I: A nice change of sound. A Robert “Mutt” Lange-produced  love song with some E.L.O. inspired background vocals. 7/10

The Edge Of Glory: The current single and a very good song choice for ending the album. 8/10

First Listen: The Edge Of Glory - Lady Gaga

Here it is, a brand new track from Lady Gaga´s upcoming album, Born This Way.

The Edge Of Glory features E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons and was inspired by the death of Gaga´s grandfather in late 2010.

The song has a rock vibe and sounds really good, we particularly love the production on this one. It is definitely our favourite so far from the Born This Way era!

Lady Gaga Accused Of Plagiarism... Again

Lady Gaga is once again facing major criticism for her music as she is being accused of plagiarism over her recently released song Judas.

The controversy arised after fans of fellow electro pop artist Loli Lux claimed that Gaga´s new single, Judas, duplicates her song WannaBE which was written and produced by Loli Lux and Rob Uncles in 2009 and released & remixed later in 2010.

Another well known producer, Dr Luke, who has collaborated with artists such as Britney Spears or Kesha mentioned the similarities by tweeting this message:

"Damn, Did @Ladygaga swipe this song? Pretty damn similar to Judas"

This isn´t the first time Lady Gaga faces similar claims as just recently, many stated that her first single, Born This Way, borrowed elements from Madonna´s 90´s hit Express Yourself.

Unlike Madonna, singer Loli Lux hasn´t kept quiet and openly adressed the comparisons by saying:

“It’s sad when my work ripped off like that but I have more new and really great unreleased material that I will keep safely guarded for now.”

Lux stated through a press release that she already knew Gaga from back in the day when they both started on the same New York music scene.

“I have always crossed paths with Gaga through having mutual friends, it’s not the first time she has borrowed ideas from me. It was previously my DJ trademark to wear military hats but I had to stop that after Gaga started doing the same.”

According to Lux she contacted producer Red One through a mutual acquaintance and forwarded her WannaBE music video. Instead of continuing with the initial interest, Lux woke up one morning to find out that the Red One produced track Judas was suspiciously familiar to her.

She tweeted the following messages to express her anger after the song surfaced:

"I wonder what´s next? Stealing my worn panties?"

"Oh the irony of the song being called "WannaBE" hahah"

There is no word yet from Gaga or her team since these accusations first surfaced.

In the meantime, click below to listen and compare a snippet of both songs!

What do you guys think? Do you spot a resemblence between the two?
