Etta James, one of the last icons of soul, passed away on Friday (Jan. 20) in Riverside, California.
The "At Last" singer who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, kidney failure, leukemia and dementia, was hospitalized and placed on a respirator since last December.
Etta James retired from singing on 2010, after releasing her last studio album "The Dreamer".
Artists such as Christina Aguilera, Janis Joplin, Beyoncé or Melissa Etheridge have always admitted to being heavily influenced by James and her music.
She will greatly missed. Rest in peace.
