Today is a very sad day for music, as British singer Amy Winehouse (27) has been found dead at her London home this afternoon.
A statement has been released by the Metropolitan Police confirming the news:
"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."
Sadly, this tragic outcome does not exactly come as a surprise to those who have followed the troubled artist. Lately Winehouse has been on the news for her struggle with alcohol and drug addictions.
Her planned third studio album has been delayed as a result of her problems, as well as her recent European Tour, where she clearly appeared intoxicated.
Here at Radio Pop Action! we believe that there is a lesson to learn from this heart breaking story. To see such a young artist go to waste as a result of drug abuse is truly sad.
R.I.P. Amy Winehouse.
